Matthew Knoops, Head Chef at Chiara developed his passion for cooking from a young age, having spent time helping his grandparents with baking and growing produce on their property in the Yarra Valley.
Matt began his apprenticeship in 2005 at Treasury Restaurant in Melbourne, gaining invaluable experience prior to securing a role at Harvey’s restaurant in South Yarra. Seeking a new challenge, he relocated to the UK, where he had the opportunity to develop his skills further in the role of Chef de Partie at the Michelin-starred Angler Restaurant.
Upon returning to Australia, Matt was the Brigade Tournant at The Arts Centre, Melbourne, overseeing various outlets, including the centre’s flagship venue The Barre. In 2016 he was appointed as Head Chef of Chiara Restaurant, here at Collins Square.
